Baptist State Convention of North Carolina
Governance of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina is a cooperative activity. It reflects historic principles of Baptists relative to autonomy of the local church, and the desire of churches to work cooperatively in outreach to the world. It involves participation and actions by messengers from cooperating churches at the Annual Session. It also includes daily work and management oversight provided throughout the year by those chosen for various leadership positions.

Sandy Creek Baptist Association
The Sandy Creek Baptist Association was organized in 1758, largely because of the efforts of Shubal Stearns. In that first meeting three churches were present: Sandy Creek, Abbott's Creek, and Deep River. By 1770, there were 42 churches and our territory stretched from the Potomac River to Augusta, Georgia, and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River. For convenience sake, in 1770, the association divided into three distinct bodies, the General Association of Virginia, the Sandy Creek in North Carolina, and the Congaree in South Carolina. We are the third oldest association in the United States. Only Charleston and Philadelphia are older.

Our goal is to equip churches to reach children and teenagers, and their families, with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
